Simply put, PegasusR is the most versatile, high-tech infusion pump available for laboratory animal infusion. It is the smallest, lightest pump suitable for tetherless and tethered infusions in large animals. And its micropulse technology and low flow rates enable its use in tethered rodents. PegasusR can be as basic or as advanced as the user requires. On the basic level, PegasusR can be programmed pushing the buttons on its display for continuous infusion...start and stop time and day can also be programmed in this manner. On the advanced level, PegasusR can be programmed via PC to perform any number of customized infusion profiles.

PegasusR infusion data may be downloaded from the pump to the PC in order to maintain GLP records. Flow rates, battery changes, alarms, etc. are all recorded on the PegasusR "diary" microchip. Telemetric access to the pump is available in the PegasusR telemetry system .

Benefits of Micro-Pulses

Because the pulses generated by the Pegasus mechanism are smaller than many other infusion pumps, the flow profile at the low infusion rates required by many laboratory animal infusion studies is much more continuous. This can affect the animal's physiology and study data.

Custom Programming

The PegasusR custom profile software is "PEGEDIT" which runs on DOS (v3.1 or higher) on a PC (286 or higher). The software allows for any number of infusion profiles. PEGEDIT consists of two components...1) Profile Entry and 2) Profile File Management. Under Profile Entry, you load into the software the desired infusion profile. Under Profile File Management, you may store a variety of infusion profiles in your PC so that you may use a profile for a study, and subsequently use that profile again one year later without having to re-enter it into PEGEDIT. PegasusR pump holds only one profile at a time, but you may load, unload, and reload profiles as often as you wish.
