Model No. ML870B10 The Cardiac Output System is a complete solution for researchers wanting to measure in vivo cardiac output in small animals such as rats and mice. The system includes a data acquisition system, temperature amplifier and probes, software and accessories, providing all the hardware and software for recording and calculating cardiac output. The system includes an eight channel PowerLab 8/30 data acquisition system and Chart Software for recording thermodilution curves.
Temperature changes in the circulation are measured using the Cardiac Output Pod in conjunction with the T-type Ultra Fast Thermocouple Probe. This system has been specifically configured for measuring temperature changes in the circulation of small animals.
An added feature of this system (included with the Cardiac Output Pod) is the add-on software Cardiac Output Module. This Module automatically calculates cardiac output from the recorded thermodilution curves. The module includes features that allow the user to define the injectate volume and temperature. Additional features include temperature tail-fitting (for baseline extrapolation), baseline slope correction, data capturing and more.
To make the preparation and measurements of cardiac output easier we have included a Cardiac Output Accessory Kit. This kit contains a syringe (250μl) and automatic repeating dispenser to accurately and repeatedly inject solution into the circulation. The kit also includes catheters, 3-way taps and Touhy Borst Adaptors. The Touhy Borst Adaptors are used to secure the thermocouple probe in the catheter and vessel while ensuring that there are no leaks within the system.
The temperature of the injectate is important in the determination of cardiac output. To monitor injectate temperature a T-type Pod and General Purpose Thermocouple Probe are included.
