The ML870B97 Small Animal Telemetry SNA System is configured to record sympathetic nerve activity in animals weighing greater than 180 grams using a wireless transmitter and a receiver. These transmitters feature an 8 kHz sampling rate with each transmitter supplied with an independent transmission frequency. The transmitter contains a rechargeable battery which enables continuous monitoring and removes the need for the transmitter units to be returned to the manufacturer for battery refurbishment. recharger unit is also supplied with this system to recharge transmitters (charge time aproximately 90 minutes). The transmitter can operate for approximately 8 hours if trecording continuously. To extend the life of the battery the transmitter can be switched to a low power mode. The availability of independent transmission frequencies avoids the need for individual or special housing/barriers for animals. The other advantage with these systems is that the range of the receivers is up to 5 meters.
