The ML870B96 Telemetry ECG/Biopotential System for small animals is configured to record ECG as well as other biopotentials such as EMG or EEG in rats (>180 grams) using a wireless transmitter and a receiver. The transmitters feature a 2 kHz sampling rate with each transmitter supplied with an independent transmission frequency (1-12 available frequencies). The transmitter contains a rechargeable battery which enables continuous monitoring and removes the need for transmitter units to be returned to the manufacturer for battery refurbishment. A recharger unit is also supplied with this system to recharge transmitters (charge time aproximately 90 minutes). The transmitter can operate for approximately 8 hours if trecording continuously. To extend the life of the battery the transmitter can be switched to a low power mode. The availability of independent transmission frequencies avoids the need for individual or special housing/barriers for animals. The other advantage with these systems is that the range of the receivers is up to 5 meters.
